Frequently Asked Questions

Can we see you perform live before booking?

We play bi-annual ‘showcase’ gigs, details of which will be published on our website a few months prior. These events are open to the public and serve as an opportunity for live viewing. We also have a selection of songs available on this site featuring both studio recordings and live video footage.

Is your equipment PAT tested?

All applicable electrical items that we use have the relevant safety certificates and are maintained regularly.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
Every band member is a member of The Musicians' Union and is covered for all aspects of public performance.

How long does it take you to setup and sound-check?

From gaining access to the performance area we will take a maximum of 1 hour to setup and sound-check.

Do The Riffreshers use backing tracks?

We are a fully live seven-piece band at all times. Everything you hear is generated by the musicians on stage.

Are you available as a smaller group e.g. 3/4 piece?

The Riffreshers perform only as a 7 piece band.

Can you provide a selection of ceilidh music for our function?

We are able to play up to 30 minutes of traditional Scottish dances, all fully called by our lead singer, Anneliese.

Do you use a male lead singer as well?

Anneliese is our female lead singer for every song we play. Our guitarist David provides male backing vocals and Gemma our keyboard player, female backing vocals.

Can you learn a song for our engagement?

We are happy to learn one new song per private booking.

Do you accommodate requests?

As long as the song is part of our set list, available to view here on our website.

Do you provide background music during your breaks?

We can play music of your choice through our PA system.

What is the band’s dress code?

Male members of the band wear white shirts/black ties and black trousers. Female members of the band dress in all black.

How loud are you?

Our volume is at your discretion. If you need us to play quieter or indeed louder, we will try and accommodate this as far as possible.

If we have friends/relatives who are singers can they perform a song on stage?

Strictly within pre-agreed limits. We ask that we be informed of any such request prior to the engagement in order that we can provide a spare microphone.

What do you do if one of the band members falls ill/is on holiday etc?

This will not affect your booking: in the event of a band member being unavailable we have a large pool of capable musicians who can step in.
